Ministry Safety & Risk Management Reminders
Preparations for Summer ministry:
- Summer rhythms change up: vacations; regular/screened volunteers take time off and others step in to serve. Occasional volunteers also need to be fully screened (volunteer application, police check with VSS, interview, reference checks and Abuse Prevention and Safety Training) or serving alongside a fully screened staff/volunteer depending on your policy.
- Day camps: Volunteers need to be screened (volunteer application, police check with VSS, interview, reference checks and Camp Training).
- VBS: If your church plans to merge with another church to host VBS, ensure that all the screening of volunteers is completed. Follow the safe ministry practices as you would during the ministry year.
- Off Site Events:
- Authorization/consent forms
- Proper/enough supervision
- Medical consent release
- Attendance
- Retreats/Overnight:
- Authorization/consent forms
- Proper/enough supervision

Reminder that all forms/attendance need to be kept indefinitely.
