A new venture on mission in the Woodcreek community - Calgary, AB!
Partnered with Horizon Church and the Western District, Aurora Woodcreek has formed under the leadership of Josh and Mady Rice. Josh is a former New Ventures apprentice who spent time during his apprenticeship with Horizon Church prayerfully discerning, along with others, a plan and a vision for a new faith community. Out of this apprenticeship space that included coaching, training, and development opportunities Josh, along with his wife Mady are now leading this emerging New Venture in the southwestern communities of Calgary. Josh and the team are leading this New Venture co-vocationally (working full-time jobs while volunteering a portion of time to lead Aurora Woodcreek). This model allows 100% of the support given towards this New Venture to be able to be put directly back into the community. This New Venture exists as a movement of disciple-makers to bless, serve, and spread joy through whole hearted obedience to Jesus. The desire is that through partnering with Jesus, they would share and bring His light to this specific place. During his discernment process Josh felt God saying to him, “In your lifetime, you will see the threshold change from people living in darkness to living in Light.” With a focus on blessing, joy, disciple making, servanthood, and wholehearted obedience, the team plans to gather in the homes of core members. They will share meals, bible studies, participate in prayer walks and acts of service for this community.
