Student Ministry Pastor - Calgary Chinese Alliance Church

Overview

Calgary Chinese Alliance Church (CCAC) is a growing, multicultural and intergenerational community of Christ followers located in the NE Calgary community of Beddington. We are looking for a passionate full-time pastor to lead our growing Student Ministry, consisting of over 40 youth from grades 7-12, and 15-20 college/university aged young adults. The vision of CCAC is:

  • To be centred on the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all that we are and do.
  • To follow Jesus with all of our lives and make disciples together in church community.
  • To participate in the redemptive purposes of God for the world to seek and save the lost, and restorebroken lives.

In order to accomplish this, we encourage our Student Ministries to partner and collaborate with the many other ministries that happen at CCAC. We have a team of youth and young adult counselors that are committed to working together to lead and serve our students and families.

Part I – Prerequisites

  1. Mature Christ follower who has a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ
  2. A love for people with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills – able to mentor and cultivate meaningful relationship through intentional interactions
  3. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Bible College/University
  4. Accredited or eligible for accreditation as a licensed worker with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada
  5. Previous experience in Youth and/or Young Adult ministry or equivalent is desirable
  6. Fluent in spoken and written English; knowledge of Cantonese and Mandarin languages is an asset
  7. Fully embraces the mission, vision and values of CCAC, recognizing their membership to the church, participating in the regular life of the church through Corporate Worship, Biblical Teaching and Life Groups

Part II – Essential Responsibilities

  1. Participate in preaching and teaching the Word of God to the youth, young adults, & greater church body through sermons, bible studies, workshops and other learning opportunities
  2. Oversee all programs and ministries for youth grades 7-12, and college/young adults, including but not limited to: Sunday Worship, Sunday School, fellowships, special events, etc.
  3. Develop and implement an annual Student Ministry plan and budget that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of CCAC
  4. Recruit, develop, coach and disciple ministry team deacons, leaders and volunteers
  5. Be available to counsel and pray with students and their parents regarding spiritual matters
  6. Plan and implement strategies to connect and communicate with parents on a regular basis (ie. focus groups, information sessions, newsletters, etc.), working to equip and train them to disciple their students
  7. Oversee the implementation of the Plan to Protect® program
  8. Plan and implement outreach events for students
  9. Oversee intentional transitions and partnerships with the Children’s Ministry
  10. Report to and work under the guidance and accountability of the Senior Pastoral Team
  11. Work with other pastoral staff in planning and implementing events and general church programs as needed
  12. Attend weekly staff meeting and other staff functions and meetings as required
