Pastor of Worship & Operations - Horizon Church

Ministry Objective:

To lead Horizon Church into a more passionate pursuit of the presence of God and optimize the effectiveness and impact of the ministry of the church.

Responsibilities:

The Pastor of Worship and Operations has three primary areas of responsibility:

1) Creating a culture of passionate worship

  • Plan, facilitate and assess weekly worship gatherings
  • Build a culture of creativity and excellence in areas pertaining to the worship gathering
  • Serve as a primary worship team leader

2) Optimizing the operational effectiveness of the church

  • Implement systems and processes that will strengthen the overall impact of the church
  • Provide direction to church communication and social media ministry efforts
  • Assist with administrative duties within the church

3) Building teams and training leaders

  • Recruit volunteers, build teams that strengthen the ministry of our groups and our gatherings, and oversee the serve team schedule
  • Assist the Lead Pastor in providing pastoral care to the church, with a primary focus on caring for serve team members
  • Other pastoral duties, as assigned by the Lead Pastor

Qualifications: 

Personal/Spiritual Qualifications: 

We are searching for someone who demonstrates a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Their life should be marked by the fruit of the Spirit. This person understands and can articulate the gospel and models a life of ongoing obedience to Christ.

A successful candidate will model a life of integrity, a coachable attitude, a willingness to learn, and a demonstrated ability to coach others. They must have a love for the lost and demonstrate a personal commitment to disciple-making and mission, as evidenced by their life and relationships. They are a self-starter who is willing and able to coordinate and implement new ministry initiatives.

Theological Qualifications:

Candidates must agree with the Statement of Faith of The Alliance Canada (C&MA). A successful candidate must be willing to pursue licensing with the C&MA if not yet licensed.

Other qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in musical and vocal skills
  • Administrative capabilities and giftedness
  • Ability to coordinate people and projects with effectiveness
  • Ability to coach others in areas of musicianship
  • Successful completion of mandatory Criminal Records and Vulnerable Sectors checks
  • Previous theological/pastoral training and experience is an asset but is not required

Employment Conditions and Team Structure:

This is a part-time position (0.5-0.75 FTE), based on the fit of the candidate. Weekend and evening hours are required. The Pastor of Worship and Operations reports to the Lead Pastor and serves as part of the staff team of Horizon Church.
